DOPPLER ULTRASOUND

A Doppler ultrasound is a noninvasive test that can be used to estimate the blood flow through your blood vessels by bouncing high-frequency sound waves (ultrasound) off circulating red blood cells. A regular ultrasound uses sound waves to produce images but can't show blood flow.
Medscan Merrylands offers high-quality images for medical diagnosis in vascular ultrasound using cutting-edge ultrasound imaging technology. Our radiologists and sonographers are highly skilled and knowledgeable in all elements of vascular imaging.
With the aid of high resolution colour and pulsed wave Doppler ultrasound, we can accurately and non-invasively assess every blood vessel in the body. Colour and pulsed wave Doppler allows us to clearly visualise blood flow within vessels in addition to hearing it, which helps us make an accurate diagnosis more quickly.
We perform a wide variety of high resolution colour Doppler real time dynamic vascular procedures at Medscan Merrylands, including but not limited to:
Carotid Artery Doppler Assessment
Peripheral (arm and leg) Venous Doppler Assessment for deep venous thrombosis
Renal Artery Doppler Assessment
Leg Arterial Doppler Assessment
Abdominal Aorta Doppler Assessment
The evaluation of blood vessels (veins and arteries) throughout the body is done using ultrasound, which is a very safe and precise investigative technique. To obtain images, ultrasound uses safe, high-frequency, inaudible sound waves. Adults and children are not harmed by or bothered by ultrasound waves
Remember to bring your referral (a letter from your doctor) as well as your Medicare and/or Pension Health Care cards. Bring any and all prior imaging and reports that pertain to the area being scanned.
To ensure there is enough time to complete the operation, please arrive on time for your appointment.
You might be required to adhere to specific instructions depending on the region being scanned. Keep taking all of your regular meds. When scheduling your appointment, all necessary information will be provided to you.
With the exception of renal Doppler, which requires a 12-hour fast, most vascular Doppler scans don't require any particular preparation.
A hand-held probe is used to transmit and collect ultrasonic waves while it is moved across the area of the body being examined. There won't be any discomfort or pain. You could be required to put on a gown.
The duration of a scan might range from 15 to 30 minutes. The examination will be carried out by a highly skilled sonographer.
After your examination, the images from your study will be available on the Medscan Z-tech app. A report written by our radiologists, along with the images will be sent directly to your referring doctor. Medscan will store digital copies of all studies on our secure database for comparison with any future examinations. All images are available online with the Medscan Z-link app
